“Do you know them?” asks Dr. Olive noticing that she was watching
“Well,” Miss Peach says after a moment of hesitation, “Actually I do. I met them in Paris years ago.”
“Mr. Green and Mrs. Meadow-Brook?” asks Dr. Olive, “I didn’t realize they traveled together.”
“Oh I didn’t realize Marie got married.” Miss Peach says, “My mother knew her and helped her through some problems.”
“Marie?” Dr. Olive says, “Mrs. Meadow-Brook’s name is Jane.”
“Oh,” Miss Peach is taken back in shock, “My mistake, I could have sworn her name was Marie.”
“It very well may be.” Dr. Olive says
“What do you mean?” asks Miss Peach
“Mr. Green is a very suspicious and highly dangerous man.” Dr. Olive says
“He doesn’t seem to be.” Miss Peach says, “My mother says that he was always trying to see the best in people.”
“I wasn’t aware that your mother was involved in the affairs of Mr. Green.” Dr. Olive says, “From what you told me, she’s a quiet American housewife.
“May Peach isn’t my mother.” Miss Peach says, “She’s adoptive mother.”
“Oh,” Dr. Olive says, “I wasn’t aware.”
“It’s a long story.” Miss Peach says. “My father, Andrew Peach, had an affair with an English woman, which resulted in my birth.”
“Do you know who your mother is?” asks Dr. Olive
“Well, that’s part of the reason I came to Mayfield.” Miss Peach says
“Your sister came to Mayfield to find her father, and you came here to find your mother?” Dr. Olive shakes his head in disbelief.
“Actually I’m here to find out what happened to my mother.” Miss Peach says
“Oh,” Dr. Olive says rather uncomfortable with the conversation, “I didn’t realize she was missing.”
“She disappeared after a fire in a Paris Hotel.” Miss Peach says
“Do you know her name?” asks Dr. Olive
“Helena Black.” Miss Peach says
“I’ve heard that name before.” Dr. Olive says
“You have?” asks Miss Peach with excitement
“Hugh Black’s mother’s name was Helena Black.” Dr. Olive says
“Hugh Black?” Miss Peach thinks for a moment, “Wasn’t he murdered days ago.”
“Unfortunately, yes.” Dr. Olive says
“Do you know where Mrs. Meadow-Brook and Mr. Green live?” Miss Peach asks
“Ceil Drive.” Dr. Olive says
“Can you take me?” asks Miss Peach
“Don’t you want to eat?” asks Dr. Olive
“I’d feel a lot better if I find out everything now.” Miss Peach says
“Then let’s go get some answers.” Dr. Olive says as they head back to the car
-Mrs. Black’s Journey-
-Afternoon-
The sky is clear of clouds. The sun shines warmly down on the pavement outside of Mr. Green’s house. Mrs. Sylvia Black walks up the driveway alone. The sound of springtime birds chirping is all that fills the air. Mrs. Black carefully and nervously reaches out and rings the doorbell. There is no response. The feeling of fear begins to fill her chest as her heart begins to beat faster. She rings the doorbell again as she glances for Bradford and Sergei who are watching her from a safe distance. As she begins to lose hope as Mr. Green and Mrs. Meadow-Brook walk towards her. Mrs. Black turns to them with a fake smile.
“Thallo,” she smiles in a chipper voice
“Sylvia,” Mr. Green says, “I can’t deal with your drama right now.”
“Listen to me.” She says keeping a smile and an overall happy presence about her, “Jane you aren’t safe. Bradford Black and Sergei Gold want you dead and are going to kill me if Jet doesn’t kill you.”
“What are you talking about?” Mr. Green asks as Jane puts her hand to her heat
“Don’t react.” Mrs. Black says with a smile, “They are watching because I told them Jet would come to you for help. I only wish he did.”
“Why would he come to me?” asks Mr. Green
“Because he is your son.” Mrs. Black says
“My son?” Mr. Green says in true shock
“Don’t react.” Mrs. Black says
“How the hell do you expect me not to react?” asks Mr. Green
“Our lives depend on it.” Mrs. Black says as she notices Bradford and Sergei approaching, “Jane, get in the house, get a gun, a knife, or something and stay safe.”
Mr. Green unlocks the door as Mrs. Meadow-Brook steps inside.
“Should I call the police?” asks Jane
“No,” Mrs. Black says continuing to talk through her grin, “Stay quiet and safe.”
“Oh god,” Mr. Green says upon seeing Sergei
“Do you have your gun?” asks Mrs. Black as she waves to Bradford and Sergei as it they are old friends
“It’s tucked in the back of my belt.” Mr. Green says as Bradford and Sergei walk up the garden walk in front of Mr. Green’s house.
“Well it’s been a long time.” Bradford says upon seeing Mr. Green
“Bradford, Sergei,” Mr. Green says with sarcasm on his voice, “It’s so good to see you.”
“Cut the crap.” Sergei says, “I saw Marie go inside.”
“Yes,” Mrs. Black says, “And if you open that door she’ll call the police.”
“Oh that’s fine.” Sergei says stepping closer to Mr. Green, “I’m sure Bradford will have slit her throat before they arrive.”
“Where is Jet?” asks Bradford impatiently
“I don’t know,” Mrs. Black says, “But I’d watch your back, there are four of us and two of you.”
“Oh Sylvia,” Bradford chuckles, “You, Jane, Jet, and John all attacked me this morning and I survived. You, Jane, Jet, and Mr. Green here don’t stand a chance now that I have Sergei on my side.”
“Don’t be so sure.” Sergei says, “You still have to kill Marie Emerald… err Jane Meadow-Brook, before I stand next to you proudly.”
“And what could I do to get on your good side?” asks Mr. Green
“Thallo?” Mrs. Black gasps in horror
“Ah,” Sergei chuckles, “The double-crosser double crosses the woman who trusted him. This could get interesting.”
“How can I get on your good side?” Mr. Green asks again while staring into Sergei’s eyes without blinking or flinching
“Kill Sylvia and Jet.” Sergei says with a smirk, “Then Bradford can kill Jane and all will be forgiven.”
“Thallo,” Mrs. Black begins to panic, “Do something.”
“Oh I will.” Mr. Green says, “It’s something I’ve been dying to do.”
Mr. Green reaches into his belt and pulls out the gun and points it at Mrs. Black, “You betrayed me, Sylvia. You lied about Jet, you kept him from me. You turned your husband against me. You have put my life in danger and threatened my security.”
“Thallo,” Mrs. Black begins to cry, “I’m sorry.”
Miss Peach and Dr. Olive drive up to the curb, distracting Sergei and Bradford momentarily.
“I don’t know why I have been so blind as to how many lives you’ve ruined.” Mr. Green says, “Yet somehow, I forgave you.”
Mr. Green pulls the trigger. Miss Peach screams at the top of her lungs from the passenger seat of the car as she watches the blood begin to flow onto the concrete…
-Mrs. Meadow-Brook’s Journey-
-Several Moments Earlier-
Mrs. Jane Meadow-Brook and Mr. Thallo Green exit the Italian Café as Miss Peach and Dr. Olive pass by. They continue to walk in the direction of Ceil Drive.
“Do you think Sergei could have murdered his son?” asks Mrs. Meadow-Brook
“I don’t think so.” Mr. Green says, “Family means so much to him. He hasn’t been able to forgive Dr. Beaumont.. err Bradford since his was responsible for the hotel burning down and his wife’s death.”
“It wasn’t Bradford.” Mrs. Meadow-Brook says, “It was his wife.”
“What?” asks Mr. Green
“She tried to save my life and prevent a mafia war in her family so she burned down the hotel, killing Irena Gold in the process.” Mrs. Meadow-Brook says
-FLASHBACK- DECEMBER 25, 1927-
Young Jane Meadow-Brook (Marie Emerald) rushes upstairs away from the two angry men chasing after her. Sergei Gold and Bradford Black (Dr. Françoise Beaumont) chase her up the stairwell. Marie Emerald slips and quickly forces herself to her feet as she rushes away. A gunshot rings in the echoing stairwell. The bullet lands in the wall near Marie’s head. Marie rushes to the door leading to the ninth floor and forces it open to find Irena Gold on the other side of it. She grabs Marie and tries to force her out f the hallway and back into the stairwell.
“You betrayed my husband!” Irena says in a thick Russian accent.
“Please,” Marie begs as she kicks to close the door leading to the stairway.
Irena forces Marie against the wall as she reaches for the doorknob of the stairwell door. Mrs. Adelaide Beaumont (Helena Black) appears behind Irena and quickly stabs her in the back with a decorative dagger. Marie looks at her with confusion.
“Hurry.” Mrs. Beaumont drags her to a hotel room with an open door. She quickly bolts it. Marie looks around the room to see drugs in boxes on the beds and in the corners.
“Oh my God.” Marie says
“This mafia war has been going on long enough.” Mrs. Beaumont says, “Today it ends.”
She lights a candle and opens several bags of marijuana and spills it around the bed. She lights the edge of the sheets with the candle.
“What are you doing?” asks Marie as she hears the commotion of Sergei and Dr. Beaumont outside in the hall.
“Saving us.” Mrs. Beaumont says as the room begins to fill with smoke. She opens the doors to the terrace, “Get outside, quickly.”
“Thank you.” Marie Emerald says as she heads to the fire escape. Within moments all of floor nine’s windows have shattered from the heat of the flames.
-END OF FLASHBACK-
Mrs. Meadow-Brook is brought back to the present as she and Mr. Green see Mrs. Black standing at Mr. Green’s door frantically ringing the doorbell. They walk up the steps in curiosity as Mrs.

Mrs. Meadow-Brook rushes inside the house, her mind is spinning. She rushes into the Kitchen and opens the knife drawer to find it empty. She begins to panic finding no way of defence. She turns around to see Jet standing in the Dining Room doorway.
“Jet,” Mrs. Meadow-Brook gasps
“I figured you and Mr. Green would come back here.” Jet says flicking open the switchblade, “It’s a good thing I beat you to it.”
“Please, whatever you may believe or have been told to do, don’t do it!” Mrs. Meadow-Brook begs
“If I don’t kill you my mother will be killed.” Jet says
“Mr. Green is taking care of everything.” Mrs. Meadow-Brook says
“Mr. Green is a drug kingpin,” Jet says, “Murdering people is something that flows in his blood. Dealing drugs is in his blood. He threatened to kill me a few weeks back when I was smoking all his products.”
“That’s before he knew that you were his son!” Mrs. Meadow-Brook says
“It can’t be true.” Jet says as tears fill his eyes.
A gunshot rings out followed by a high pitched scream.
-Miss Scarlet’s Journey-
-Continuous-
Miss Scarlet blinks several times as she begins to come to. Her head feels numb and her dizziness is overwhelming. As her eyes begin to adjust to the darkness she becomes aware of the cavern-like surroundings. She finds herself in the dark, damp basement of Lenoir Villa. The only source of light is the dim sunlight coming through the slots in the floorboards above her which barely illuminates the room. She feels the coldness of the cobblestone floor on her palms as she crawls over to the lifeless body of Professor Plum. The constant dripping sound is coming from a leaky pipe above them both. The water mixes with the blood from Professor Plum.
“Uncle Greg.” She cries as she lifts his head into her lap. She feels the sticky blood from his head seeping into her hands. She takes off her black sweater and wraps it around his head and tries to prevent him from bleeding out. She lifts him up so that his blood can circulate better; as she does a bag of fine white powder falls from his pocket.
“What is this?” she asks to herself in panic as she picks it up. She examines it several times and jumps at the loud clanking sound from upstairs. She stuffs it into her pocket and begins to walk towards the staircase with caution. Her eyes have by now fully adjusted to the darkness and she is beginning to lose the claustrophobic feeling of surrounding blackness. She walks up the stairs and reaches the top. She hears the screams of Mrs. Peacock.
“Penelope.” She whispers as a tear falls from her face. She tries to turn the doorknob but finds it bolted from the other side. She turns around and leans her back against the door, continuing to cry. She is interrupted when she feels a breeze coming from the bricks. In hopes of finding a way out, she feels along the brick walls of the stairway. She pushes a section of the bricks and the wall swings on a rusty hinge.
“I’ll be back,” she whispers to her uncle, “I promise.”
Miss Scarlet walks along the dark secret passage in a hurry. She sees that the ceiling, walls, and floor has turned from brick into dirt. She looks around at the walls that appear to be a burrowed tunnel that is under a vast field. She comes to a ladder that leads up. She climbs it and pushes open the trap door to find herself in a courtyard surrounded with hedges. She finds the sidewalk and rushes towards the taxi cab at the end of the long driveway. She kicks off her high heels and runs as fast as her legs can carry her. She reaches the taxi to see the driver getting out of the car.
“Please help me.” Miss Scarlet screams
“Mademoiselle?” the cab driver looks frantic.
Chandler gets out of the back seat, “Cynthia, are you alright.”
“No, Helena Black is in there. She’s torturing Penelope and she attacked me and Uncle Greg.” Miss Scarlet says out of breath
Chandler repeats this to the cab driver in French.
“Come on,” Chandler says hurrying towards the front of the house.
“She’s too strong.” Miss Scarlet shouts, “Chandler, you’ll be killed!”
“We have to go!” Chandler shouts as the rush through the front doors. They both stop in their tracks at the sight of a fireplace poker sticking out of the abdomen of a bloody figure on the floor.
-Mrs. Peacock’s Journey-
-Several Moments Earlier-
“I don’t know what you hope to accomplish.” Mrs. Peacock says as she slips one hand out of the ropes behind her back.
Helena Black is holding the fireplace poker above the flame of a candle. The tip of the poker is smoking.
“Torturing me isn’t going to bring Hugh back.” Mrs. Peacock says as Helena approaches her with the steering hot poker.
“Why don’t you let me decide what I’m going to accomplish.” Helena says reeling her hand back with the poker high above Mrs. Peacock’s head.
In one swift move Mrs. Peacock lurches forward in the chair, knocking herself over onto Helena. The poker hits the floor making a loud clanking noise. Helena struggles to bring herself to her feet. Mrs. Peacock limbs as she tries to get away. Helena stands up quickly and begins to rush after Mrs. Peacock. Helena grabs Mrs. Peacock’s head and smashes her face against the wall. Mrs. Peacock’s blood stained face turns to Helena in pity. Helena drops her to the floor and walks over to the ropes on the chair. Helena hurries towards Mrs. Peacock, who quickly grabs the fireplace poker and swings it around at Helena. The steering hot tip added with the pressure and speed of Helena’s walking causes it to penetrate her abdomen. Helena lets out a loud gasp as Mrs. Peacock lets go of the handle. Blood pours from Helena’s stomach as Chandler and Miss Scarlet rush in.
“Oh my God.” Miss Scarlet screams tracks at the sight of the fireplace poker sticking out of the abdomen of Helena.
“I only wanted to protect what’s mine.” Mrs. Peacock says covered in her own blood and Helena’s, “She would have killed you. She would have killed both of you.”
